Swara Bhaskar signs her next 'Nil Battey Sannaata'

Her portrayal as the feisty ‘Bindiya’ in the hit film Raanjhanaa brought Swara Bhaskar into prominence. Curiously though, the actress was not seen in any other movie post Raanjhanaa. Sources reveal that although Swara was inundated with offers, she couldn't find a script that suited her caliber and liking. Now finally after 10 months of Raanjhanaa's release, Swara has signed her next film with Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's Nil Battey Sannaata where she plays the lead role. The movie's name is drawn from the colloquial North Indian phrase meaning a 'hopeless or gone case’ and showcases the story of a mother and daughter and their curious relationship and constant tug of war. The story has reportedly been conceived by Ashwiny's husband Nitesh Tiwari who had directed the critically acclaimed Amitabh Bachchan starrer Bhoothnath Returns. Swara will essay the role of the mother in the movie. Talking about her choice of film, Swara says, "After Raanjhanaa I was stuck in a curious conundrum. Despite numerous offers, I was just not liking any script. On a daily basis I was refusing one or two films. I had loved the script of Raanjhanaa and my character Bindiya. After doing Raanjhanaa and feeling all the love and praise after the release only raised the standard higher for the next project I would commit to. I didn't want to let my viewers down, and for myself as an actor I wanted to raise the bar. Finally after almost 10 months I found a script I really liked Ashwiny Iyer's script. Elaborating on her role, Swara says, "The story is based on a lovely and unique plot idea which is both original and curious and yet expresses emotions that are universal. I play a mother in the film which is my first and will present a huge challenge to me as an actor." Unlike other quintessential heroines, Swara seems unafraid to play a mother early in her career. "I have been asked if I am scared of being typecast or whether I was hesitant to play an older age - bracket. I just felt it was a great and challenging part and I didn't want to pass it up based on any insecurity or speculation. I hope I am able to rise to the challenge of playing the role with ease and conviction," says the Swara also has a word of praise for her director. "Ashwiny is a sensitive director and Nitesh Tiwari is a brilliant writer and director as we've seen in Bhootnath Returns. They've created a great script and it deserves a great performance. I hope I can deliver." Well, after Raanjhanaa it looks like Swara will once again stun us with her new motherly role.
