Janhvi Kapoor to get Norwegian honour
Actress Janhvi Kapoor will be awarded 'Arets Stjerneskudd' rising talent of the year by the Norwegian Consulate General here.
Janhvi, who made her debut with Dhadak, will be felicitated on Tuesday at an event organised in association with theatre chain INOX.
Janhvi is excited.
"I made my debut with Dhadak this year. Our film has been seen by audiences across the globe since it released worldwide and many of them including people staying in Norway have seen the film and sent their good wishes via social media. This recognition is a pleasant surprise. I am happy to receive this honour and humbled that they chose me for this honour," she said in a statement.
The evening will also see the screening of two acclaimed Norwegian films including What Will People Say, Norway's official entry for the Academy Awards for 2019. The other is The King's Choice -- a biographical war film that was Norwegian entry for the Academy Awards in 2016.
This is an initiative by the Norway government to promote Norwegian cinema and help build entertainment ties with India. The screenings also coincide with the Nobel Peace Prize announcements. Both the films promote unity and peace.
The event will have Iram Haq from Norway, the director of What Will People Say, and industry veterans including Janhvi's father and film producer Boney Kapoor.
Ann Ollestad, Consul General of Norway in Mumbai, said, "Indian films are being watched around the world now and Norway too has fans of many Indian films and actors. Since 2003, Norway hosts an annual Bollywood festival featuring prominent Indian actors and high profile Norwegian guests.
"Our official entry for Oscars this year was shot in India and has Indian actors in it. We are happy to honour Janhvi Kapoor whose first film has been very successful and the young actor seems to have a promising future in films."

Tarun Gahlot on his Kedarnath experience...
Tarun Gahlot, who plays a significant role in the recently released film Kedarnath, spoke about his journey.
He said, "My character’s name is Kailash, the Pithu leader who fulfils the demands of Pithus by negotiating with the Mandals who is a very honest man. While Sushant is the Pithu, my role is to constantly support his honesty and fight for what is good and in favour of All."
On his experience of working with Sara, he shared, "Of course, I've had a beautiful experience working in this film, it's been a very rejuvenating experience to have shot at Kedarnath, and the journey itself has been spiritual which synced with the vibe of the film.
Sara is a very humble person, for a debutant she was very professional, mature and a very positive energy on set. Working with her has been a wonderful experience, though my scenes were very limited with her, but Sara used to fold her hands and say Namaste, stand in the queue for food along with the rest of the team. I realised through the shoot that she is genuinely a very humble and respectful human being.”
He further added, “Working in this film has been very challenging because we have worked in extreme conditions, shot in freezing cold in the rain in Kedarnath and then shoot in Bombay in extreme heat.
I would like to thank Abhishek sir and my casting director Mukesh Chabbra for this wonderful opportunity and to the whole team for being the family they have been. Please go experience this beautiful spiritual love story and I wish the best for our film.”
On his journey, he stated, "I started my career in Bombay in 2006 as a model, after being a successful model I realised my heart was in acting so I joined FTII, I have worked on several films including Tezaab 2 as a lead with N Chandra which is yet to release, Breathe for Amazon prime videos, the Test Case for ALTBalaji and the upcoming Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar under the YRF banner with Dibakar Banerjee."
