MUMBAI: After debuting with Bad Boy (2023), Namashi Chakraborty is taking on multiple roles as director and actor in a series of upcoming projects. Most notably, he will direct a web mini-series titled Toasted, which features his legendary father, Mithun Chakraborty, and marks the return of his mother, Yogita Bali Chakraborty, to acting after nearly four decades.

Yogita Bali last appeared in a full-fledged role in Mera Karam Mera Dharam (1987). Although she was seen in Aakhri Badla (1989), it had been shot in 1983. Toasted, produced under Namashi’s banner Myrnd Movies, will be her first significant role since then.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Namashi said, “After completing Ghost: A Haunting Love Story, I wanted to venture into the web. I had a story in my mind for a mini web-series, a slice of life comedy drama. It has two very prominent characters and I always wanted Dad and Mom to appear together... She said, ‘Chalo, for you, I’ll do a small bit’. It took a lot of convincing and finally, she has agreed. She is facing the camera after nearly four decades.”
He added, “Toasted is a love story set in Mumbai. We are yet to finalize the female lead. We’ll begin shooting for it from November 3, 2025.”

Alongside Toasted, Namashi will also direct and act in Ghost: A Haunting Love Story, starring Mithun Chakraborty, newcomer Dipika Singh, and others including Mimoh Chakraborty, Tigmanshu Dhulia, and Johny Lever. The film will release directly on OTT.

Namashi is also preparing Mystique, a horror film he will direct and star in, set for a Halloween 2027 release. “We are writing this film. It’ll be shot a year later,” he shared.

He has also wrapped up The Delhi Files by Vivek Agnihotri and is currently filming Viraat with Vikram Bhatt. “It is set in 1911 and features me and a tiger; we both are the main characters,” he revealed. The film is due in January 2026.

Summing up, Namashi said, “This year, as an actor, I have wrapped The Delhi Files. Viraat will go on until July end. And there’s Ghost: A Haunting Love Story as well. That's three feature films. Work has picked up, touchwood (smiles).”
