Trailer review of 'Boss' - Not too different from Rowdy Rathore

Akshay Kumar
The much-awaited trailer of Akshay Kumar’s next mega outing ‘Boss’ is finally out. One look at it and you could very well say that it looks sliced out from Rowdy Rathore. The same environmental settings, the same ash-faced villains and the same hackneyed dialogues. But the good news is that Akshay Kumar is back to doing what he does best – playing himself. The 2.52 minute trailer shows Akshay fighting the bad guys, breaking their head with coconut, steel buckets and whatever he can lay his hands on and mouthing jocular one-liners with a Punjabi nasal twang. Directed by Anthony D’souza and co-produced by ex-journalist Ashwin Varde, Boss is the Hindi remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Pokkiri Raja, which had Mammooty, Prithviraj and Shriya Saran in the lead roles. While Akshay reprises Mammooty’s role in the Hindi version, newcomer Shiv Pandit who was last seen in Shaitan, will be seen playing Akshay’s younger brother. The female lead for the movie is the pretty Aditi Rao Hydari who sizzles in a two-piece as can be seen in the trailer. Apart from Akshay, the film boasts of a stellar star cast with Mithun Chakraborthy playing Akshay’s father and yesteryear villain Danny Denzongpa playing Akshay’s mentor. The film will also see Ronit Roy in a lead negative role taking on Akshay Kumar in some shirtless battle at the fag-end of the movie. The high point seems to be music which seems to be tailor made to suit the village’s darling ruffian. Don’t miss out on Humse Panga Na Le, which has been inspired from the famous song Apadi Pode from Tamil movie Gilli. From the looks of it, Boss seems to be yet another ‘no-brainer,’ from Akshay Kumar’s action-comic stables that will in all probability rake in the moolah like Rowdy Rathore.
