MUMBAI: A few collaborations transcend music—they become immortal, etched in the hearts of generations. The reunion of Academy Award-winning legend A.R. Rahman and Padma Shri recipient Arijit Singh has delivered yet another masterpiece, Jaane Tu, penned by the lyrical genius Irshad Kamil. This timeless track from Laxman Utekar’s historical action drama Chhaava encapsulates the undying, spiritual bond between Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Maharani Yesubai, portrayed by Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna.
For Vicky Kaushal, this was a dream come true. Speaking about Jaane Tu, he shared, “The song and the portrayal of characters go way beyond the conventional idea of love. It’s about an eternal connection, a bond that transcends time. I hope people experience the depth of this spiritual relationship. The coming together of three maestros — A.R. Rahman sir, Padma Shri laureate Arijit sir, and Irshad Kamil sir — is what makes this piece of music truly special. It has always been a dream to star in a film with Rahman sir's music, so thank you to Dinesh Vijan sir for making it happen. A big thanks to Laxman Utekar sir, our director, for bringing us together in this epic saga called Chhaava.”
Rashmika Mandanna echoed his sentiments, expressing her gratitude for being part of this extraordinary musical journey. She says, “It’s my first time having A.R. Rahman sir’s name in the same film, and I am truly honoured. And, as Vicky mentioned, the relationship between Maharani Yesubai and Maharaj Sambhaji is not just a portrayal of love; it is a spiritual bond that goes beyond human understanding. It was one of the main reasons why I wanted to be part of this film—because it represents something divine, something that connects us to a deeper realm.”
The song’s grand unveiling in Hyderabad was a regal spectacle. Mirroring a pivotal moment from the track, Rashmika Mandanna performed the tilak ceremony on Vicky Kaushal at the event, adding a symbolic touch to the launch. With social media already buzzing and Jaane Tu making it to countless loop lists, the film’s stars opened up about what it meant to be part of a project that features Rahman’s soul-stirring music
