When Akshay Kumar was asked to pay BRIBE by a government official

Akshay Kumar

Corruption is so deeply rooted to our system that no one can escape from its clutches. Even if you are against paying bribes or any other forms of corruption, circumstances force you to end up paying it to get your work done faster. And there is no escaping it, not even if you are Akshay Kumar.

The action star yesterday admitted that he had once been asked to pay bribe by a government official. "Yes, it has happened," said Akshay. The star however appeared wary when asked to reveal the details.

After much prodding Akshay continued, “Corruption happens a lot of time but you have to get away from it and not fall into it. The problem is sometimes work never happens and we end up paying money. But here corruption is so much that despite giving money, work doesn't happen. So corruption has reached an altogether new level."

Akshay whose new film Gabbar deals with corruption will see him take on his famed action avatar and delivering justice in vigilante style. While many films tackling the issue of corruption have been made in Bollywood, not a single one has made a difference. When we asked Akshay if he feels Gabbar would make any difference, Akshay said , "It is a small little try. I am not here to teach. Maine koi classes nahi kholi hain. This is my point of view. When I made Oh My God about 2% people stopped giving milk to idols. So it's a small difference. There are many cases like rape happening in our country and I have opened classes where I teach women martial arts free of cost. Whether it makes a difference or not is something that should be seen later. I don't think about it when I am doing something. I do things that I feel for and believe in."

We applaud your belief, Akshay.
