When Sanjay Mishra was left with a bruised nose while shooting for Lucky Kabootar

A still from the movie Lucky Kabootar
Ace comedian Sanjay Mishra, who has done as many as twelve films this year, had to deal with some moments of pain and anguish on the sets of Lucky Kabootar. It so happened that during the filming of a scene Eijaz Khan was to pretend hitting a matka kept on the head of the 50 year old Mishra with a stool made of cane. While the first take didn’t go off well, in the second take though the matka broke, it hit Mishra on his nose. Elaborating on the scene a crew member exclaimed, “There was a fight scene in which Sanjay was to be hit by co-actor Eijaz Khan on his head. As it was a simple scene, instead of hiring a fight master, director Shammi Chhabra told both the actors to do it themselves. Sanjay got a brainwave and thought of putting a cane stool that was lying on the sets around his neck. He then asked Eijaz to hit him with a mud pot. Around the third take, Eijaz decided to hit with great force resulting in the pot breaking and injuring Sanjay’s nose. Sanjay’s face was covered with blood and everybody panicked.” Commented a visibly hurt Eijaz, “It was completely unfortunate and the scene is supposed to be one of the funniest scenes of the film. At first the matka didn't break and just before the second take Sanjay ji moved the stool a bit causing the accident. There was so much blood all over but Sanjay ji was back to work the next day and didn't seem upset a bit about the incident. Thank God." Soon after the incident, shooting came to a halt and a doctor was immediately called for. Fortunately, the injury was not grave but Sanjay was in pain. “Feeling guilty I apologised to him. But Sanjay ji gave me a nasty look that made me feel guiltier. But next day when he came on the sets he was calm. He told me he did not hold me responsible for the mishap. I was really touched,” Eijaz added. Ever since Eijaz and Sanjay have become buddies with the former vowing to take all safety precautions before shooting a fight sequence.
