Banning has now become a norm in Pakistan vis-?-vis the release of Bollywood films there. All good big banner films face a similar problem in the neighbouring country; either it is banned or someone from the local media files a petition in a Court in that land that ban Indian films from exhibiting in the country.
A similar case has happened when a TV host Mubashir Lucman lodged a petition in a local Court that prompted it to issue orders banning Bollywood films from exhibition in Pakistan.
This move has the release of Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha-starrer Bullett Raja on hold in the country. Not only that, the release of Prabhu Deva’s Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi-starrer R...Rajkumar cannot be screened there if the exhibitors there don’t raise their voice in unison against the order.
But Lucman, who has in a way turned out to be the nemesis of upcoming Bollywood films in Pakistan, says that his move was not an anti-India stance. He had raised his voice against tax evasion prevalent in the industry in the country.
"I am not against any Indian film, or for that matter, any film from any other country," he has been quoted to have said.
In spite of all this, Neeraj Pandey, who has turned to production with his upcoming release Total Siyapaa, is hoping to release his film in Pakistan. And he is using his trump card who is none other than his lead actor Ali Zafar who hails from Pakistan and has a capacity to pull strings.
