MUMBAI: For actor Vardhaan Puri, playing a sport isn’t just about fitness. “Personally, sport for me is more for my mind than my body. It just keeps me excited because I'm constantly dreaming of when I'll play next. And it keeps me very focused, agile and dynamic because you never know what's going to hit you next. But you've got to stay prepared. And you have to have a solution for the next challenge.”
He discovered padel tennis in Europe. “I got introduced to padel tennis when I was traveling to parts of Europe. I was very curious to know how it's played. And I picked up the racket and there's been no looking back. I play with my family members, I play with my friends and I can easily say that I'm addicted to the game.”
A state-level tennis player, he took to padel effortlessly. “I have been a state level lawn tennis player when I was in school. And paddle is kind of an offshoot of tennis, so it came to me naturally. Now it’s pretty much a love story.”
Padel tennis is therapy for him. “Padel helps me be in the moment while I'm playing. I'm not thinking about anything else. And according to me, when you are in the moment, you're meditating. Sport for me is a kind of meditation. After playing any sport I feel completely relaxed and recharged. And my zest for life too seems to increase. I call sports my therapist.”
“The gym is just a means of being aesthetic and fit but sports are so much more than that,” he concludes, urging fans to play any sport to stay young and healthy.
