In a recent interview, Kapoor shared that during the making of Mr. India, people approached his father Surinder Kapoor, who was also a film producer, and brother Anil Kapoor to warn them saying that the film could be a big failure. He told a media portal that people went to his father and said that ‘your son has gone mad’ and told his brother Anil that he would ruin his career as Boney would make him invisible for the major portion of the film. They also said that through this movie, Boney only wants to highlight Sridevi.

Boney Kapoor revealed that he had spent so much on Mr. India, that after the film was completed, he was ‘broke’. But he had his full confidence that the movie would not only become a hit, but also be very ‘iconic’. He told Anil Kapoor that he will be remembered as Mr India forever. “I had faith in the project and I told Anil that you will be remembered as Mr. India till your last breath,” recalled Kapoor.

The filmmaker is now looking forward to the release of Mili, which is his first collaboration with daughter Janhvi Kapoor. This film is a Hindi remake of the Mathukutty Xavier hit, Helen. The Malayalam film Helen was released in 2019. Mili will also feature Manoj Pahwa and Sunny Kaushal. It is slated to hit theatres on November 4.
