#TrailerReview: SRK's Fan trailer is a treat to his fans

Fan

After a long wait, Yash Raj Films has released the first trailer of Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated movie Fan on February 29. And what a great way to celebrate an extra day this year, eh?

If the poster and teaser bowled us over, the trailer hits us at the softest, gooiest spot in the heart. All his female fans will go aww, while all his male fans will get another opportunity to copy the superstar.

The trailer opens with a typical fan-star setting, where SRK (as Gaurav, the fan) explains his unique connection with Arya Khanna (also SRK, the star). Right from how he grew up binging on Aryan’s movies to how his lookalike factor eventually brings him closer to his God, the promo offers a glimpse into the movie without revealing the crux.

But what made us sit up and take notice was the confrontation scene where Gaurav and Aryan come face-to-face. What started off as a normal appreciation for a star soon turns into an obsession that only Aryan can put an end to.

SRK, as Gaurav, hits it on the nail in the ‘Dilli’ accent and body language department. He is especially good when he’s receiving an award at a local competition and he's seen jumping around in joy, thanking his star for the feat. The other SRK aka Aryan is sophisticated, suave and a true superstar.

Since the movie is about his biggest fan, we are excited to see Shah Rukh as a crazed and devoted follower. Aren’t you too, guys? Another little detail that we liked was the use of SRK’s old movie snippets, award show footage and forgotten scenes from movies that are a blast from the past. The trailer (and perhaps the movie too) is a true treat and return gift to all his die-hard fans.

The scene, where in a room filled with Shah Rukh Khan’s posters, pictures and cut-outs, his biggest fan stands clutching a trophy, summaries the life of every FAN out there.

The movie, directed by Maneesh Sharma, stars Waluscha De SousaIlleana D'Cruz, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Ali Fazal. It releases on April 15, 2016.
