MUMBAI: Television star Sorab Bedi, who is winning hearts as the lead in Dilwale Dulha Le Jayegi on Dangal TV, is using his voice and platform to shine a spotlight on a darker reality the rising cruelty toward animals in our society, especially the helpless strays who walk among us.

While the actor is known for his charisma and talent on-screen, it's his off-screen compassion and courage that’s turning heads for all the right reasons. Sorab has long been a vocal advocate for animal welfare and regularly dedicates time to feed and care for street dogs in his locality. His message has always been one of empathy, kindness, and respect for all living beings.

But a recent, horrifying incident has pushed Sorab to speak out louder than ever before. A case surfaced where a man was accused of raping multiple stray dogs a heinous act that has shaken the conscience of many and sparked outrage across the country.

“This isn’t just animal cruelty it’s a reflection of where our humanity is headed,” says Sorab Bedi. “We live in a society where even voiceless animals aren’t spared. What kind of world are we building if such acts go unpunished or ignored? It’s time the government and our legal system take strict, non-negotiable action against such monsters. Animal abuse laws need to be stronger. Because if we fail to protect the most helpless among us, we’ve already failed as humans.”

Sorab, who often shares his interactions with stray animals on social media, has always aimed to destigmatize and demystify street dogs, encouraging people to see them as a part of the community, not a threat. But this recent case has deeply disturbed him, and he's now calling for urgent, systemic change both legally and socially.

The actor is urging citizens, lawmakers, and fellow influencers to rally together in demanding stronger animal protection laws and public awareness campaigns that highlight the severity of such crimes.

Whether it’s nurturing hope on screen or challenging apathy off it, Sorab Bedi is proving that being a public figure comes with the power and the responsibility to stand for what’s right.
