YRF's casting director turned actress Bhumi Pednekar is currently soaking in the accolades flowing in her way post the release of her debut movie, Dum Laga Ke Haisha. The movie which was perhaps the least promoted movie from the stables of India's premiere production house has received outstanding response from both critics and audience alike. With the movie collecting close to 7 crore till now, Dum Laga Ke Haisha could turn out to be the sleeper hit of the month.
The rave reviews has made Bhumi beam with pride. Extremely modest in her comments, the debutant said, "I am extremely happy that the movie has been appreciated. The best compliment that I have received till now is from my mother who had tears in my eyes after watching my performance."
Bhumi who joined YRF at the age of 18 always had acting aspirations. "I always wanted to be a part of the film fraternity and started out very young. Casting happened accidentally and Abhimanyu Rai was my first boss. I later on worked with Shanoo Sharma and have been with YRF for six long years now. I have been passionate about acting since childhood. Infact, we had auditioned many others for this role but our director Sharat Kataria felt that I was best for the role. I too had to audition for a lot many times before I was finalised."
Of the many celebs who have expressed their happiness at Bhumi's performance, the most prominent one happens to be Rani Mukerji. However when asked about Rani's appreciation, Bhumi blushed. "She appreciated all of us together. I just couldn't believe that moment when Rani appreciated us. I froze at that moment."
When asked about the biggest compliment Rani gave her, a modest Bhumi said, "Rani maam said I am beautiful."
While Bhumi had to gain weight for her role, losing it was not a problem for the newbie actress. "I was on a diet consisting of butter chicken and other weight gaining food items. After our shoot, I stopped eating those and lost weight."
Bhumi today has a three film deal with YRF but it's the success of Dum Laga Ke Haisha that she would like to enjoy for the moment. As for casting, Bhumi has bid the job adieu which means there is a vacancy in YRF for all potential casting aspirants.
