It's bonanza time for Mumbaikars on the telly!

The viewersare the greatest beneficiary of what is called 'interactive television.' This is one place where the viewers drive the show -- be it Star Plus' KBC, Star One's Bluff Master or SaharaOne's Dial One Aur Jeeto. Viewers not only participate in these shows, but are also a medium of pulicising them. Recently, two Mumbai lads won bumper prizes by participating in shows on popular channels. SaharaOne organised the 'Kohinoor Dekho Kohinoor Parkho contest which invited viewers to go on a quest for the Kohinoor stone by enabling them to win grand prizes.

SaharaOne organised the 'Kohinoor Dekho Kohinoor Parkho contest which invited viewers to go on a quest for the Kohinoor stone by enabling them to win grand prizes. All that a viewer had to do was watch episodes one to four from Monday to Thursday (5 to 8 September) at 10 pm and answer one simple question every day. Mumbai boy Samir Bubere won a trip for two to Tower Of London for two days and three nights to see the Kohinoor. And this is not all! Another Mumbaikar, Sagar Doshi, won a Maruti Swift car, this time on Star One's Super Sale, a game show hosted by Sajid Khan. Mumbaikars seem to rule the roost as far as game shows and television contests are concerned. Here is a list of Mumbaikars who have made it big on the telly-- Harshvardhan Navathe - This Ghatkopar boy will always be remembered as the first man to be a 'televised crorepati.' His face is perhaps synonymous with the success of the show. Abhijeet Sawant - This teenager from a middle class Mahim locality is the first Indian Idol. He was struggling for a long tio get a foothold in the industry, till he struck gold with the Sony show. He has now cut his own album and is a rage with the masses. Rahul Vaidya -- This Lokhandwala lad is all ready to cut his first album. He is as popular as the Idol himself, and the first among the lot to sing for a film! Rex D' Souza -- The latest Mumbaikar to shoot to TV fame, Rex's suave nature and his happy go lucky attitude has taken the fancy of viewers across the nation. He is, perhaps the most written (other than, of course, Qazi) about contestant in Fame Gurukul!
