Meet the 'over qualified' actress Barkha Singh

Barkha Singh

A lot has been said about the glamour industry being only about beauty and not brains! But breaking the myth is the pretty actress Barkha Singh who is quite educated!

The actress, currently seen playing the spunky Surbhi on &TV’s Bhagyalakshmi (Rashmi Sharma Productions), holds a double Masters degree and is planning to do her PhD soon.

Sources informed us that Barkha holds a position in the State toppers in her standard 12th boards. She holds a Bachelors in Mass Media, along with a Masters in Marketing and Business from Berkeley University. If that wasn't enough, she has a Masters in Sociology as well.

When we buzzed the geeky beauty about the same, she smiled and said, “Yes, it’s true that I hold these qualifications and I am proud of each of them. I think it’s a myth that actors are dumb and I want to break the stereotype and prove that we are educated and intelligent too. I have been a padhaku all my life and I really feel that education is very important. Also, with the kind of insecure profession that we are in, I think we should keep our options open.”

Talking further about her plans, Barkha quipped, “I have always been interested in marketing and would love to start a business. My in-depth knowledge about humans and their social behaviour will be helpful too!"

We then wondered how she managed to study, given her hectic schedule, she said,  “I enjoy studying and whenever I used to get free time on the sets, I would get busy with my books and notes. Now that my exams are over, I am actually feeling bored and don’t know how to spend time,” she added.

Great going, Barkha.
