Sony Entertainment Television’s latest offering, Power Couple, combines the adventures of reality shows with the mush of daily romances. Even though this deadly combo could have sent the show into ‘over-the-top’, it doesn’t…thanks to the sheer chemistry of the couples and the ultimate power couple, the hosts Arbaaz and Malaika Arora Khan.
Their experience and quick wit save the show from falling into the crevasse of tried and tested. The couples- Pratyushya Banerjee and Rahul Singh, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Aamir Ali, Shilpa Saklani and Apurva Agnihotri, Mahek Chahel and Ashmit Patel, Mugdha Godse and Rahul Dev, Delnaaz Irani and Percy Karkaria, Naved Jaffery and Sayeeda Jaffery, Marsela Ayesha and Shawer Ali, Jesse Randhawa and Sandip Soparrkar and Ria Banerjee and Salil Ankola- are believable, relatable and camera-friendly who make the show fun to watch.
Right from the ‘Bharosa Points’ (the couples gamble on each other) to the little snippets into the pairs’ real life love sagas to their emotional exchanges with their better halves, there’s gooey moments galore. If you’re a die-hard fan of all thing cheesy and romantic, you’ll love the show like no other.
When the unsuspecting pairs are thrown into the wildest of situations, they survive them with the help of their partners. That’s a nice touch, which makes us believe in love stories, fairy tales and happily ever afters! The conversation, at times contrived, is easy and natural.
While we were expecting a bit more on the glam quotient from the models and actresses, not a deal breaker (as of now). Being suckers for lovey-dovey moments, our weekends are finally made with Power Couple
The show has hit all the right chords. There’s drama, adventure, real life couples’ chemistry, their highs, their lows and most importantly, oodles of desire and drama. So, grab a large cheese popcorn and get set to indulge in the most colourful take on a couple’s ability to win against all odds. After all, love makes everything rosy…isn’t it?
