MUMBAI: In a landmark announcement that has sent ripples of excitement through the entertainment world, Ektaa Kapoor has officially confirmed the much-awaited revival of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

The legendary television serial, which defined prime-time drama in the early 2000s, is poised to return — promising to stir up nostalgia and introduce a new era of storytelling for today’s viewers.

First aired in 2000 on Star Plus, the show quickly became a cultural phenomenon, dominating TRP charts for eight consecutive years.

Now, in a historic moment for television, Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay are set to reprise their beloved roles. Reacting to this monumental news, actor Hassan Zaidi shared his thoughts exclusively with TellyChakkar.

“Smriti, back then, was just an actress – not yet a politician. She’s achieved so much since then. Yes, there are differing opinions about her political career, but there’s no denying she’s a phenomenal actress and an incredible human being,” Hassan remarked. “Some viewers will tune in for the love of the show, others out of curiosity about Smriti’s return. But I have no doubt she’ll deliver.”

He further noted, “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is a powerful brand. With OTT content now dominating, it’s up to the actors and makers to revive the magic and make it relevant again.”

The countdown has begun — and the anticipation is sky-high.
