Star Jalsha launches gastronomical delight series, Jhaanj Lobongo Phool

Jhaanj Lobongo Phool

If you talk about Bongs, food automatically will make its presence felt because the relationship between Bongs and food is an old one! It is classic.

With this thought in mind, popular channel Star Jalsha is all set to launch its new soap Jhaanj Lobongo Phool, a gastronomical tale of a village girl Lobongo.

Via its story, the soap promises to explore Bengali’s love for food through authentic and traditional Bengali cuisines.

It stars newbie Isha Saha and popular actor Rajdeep Gupta as the female and male lead respectively. Some of the other actors to play key roles here include Swagata Mukhrejee, Anuradha Roy, Sourav Das, Ratna Ghoshal and Biplob Banerjee.

Now coming to the plot, it would narrate the journey of Lobongo (Isha), who loves cooking. Cooking not only is her passion but she worships it. One day she would get married to the son of the biggest hotelier of the town, Neel (Rajdeep).

And the twist comes here.

Her marriage would be nothing but a trick. Her sasuma, Indrani (Swagata), impressed by her cooking skills, would not accept her as her daughter-in-law but would plan to use her skill to popularize her hotel and Lobongo will not be aware of this.

But how long can one hide a lie?

Eventually, Lobongo would get to know the truth. An extremely hurt Lobongo then would challenge her sasuma that she too would start a hotel right opposite hers and thus would begin the competition between the saas and bahu. How this battle transforms all the characters in the process is for the viewers to find out.

Commenting on the theme of the story, Sahana, Creative Director, said, “Its about finding the identity of a woman. Some women are amazing cooks but are ashamed of talking about this quality of theirs because a section of our society considers it a ‘not-so-important-task’. And I want to glorify through Jhaanj Lobongo Phool that cooking is an artistic skill.”

“It would also showcase through Indrani’s character that how the greed of power can destroy one’s innocence and ethics,” she added.

Abira Mazumder, director of the soap, shared, “It would be a great platform for our audiences to learn about various simple, exotic and unknown recipes."

"The food cooked by a village girl is different from the food cooked by an urban girl which happens mainly due to availability of ingredients. Since , Indrani is an urban character and Lobongo is a village character, audiences would also get to learn about two different styles of cooking,” she added.

So readers, gear up for an interesting tale ahead.

Produced by Shree Venkatesh Films, it will start from 20th June, Monday to Saturday, 8.30 pm.
