Actress Supriya Pilgaonkar has gained immense popularity as Ishwari of Sony Entertainment Television’s Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi. She has many successful shows in her kitty, like Tu Tu Main Main,Sasural Genda Phool and Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi.
Soaking in the festive spirit, the Marathi mulgi tells us how she seeks blessings from Lord Ganesha and also reminisces her childhood days of Ganpati Utsav.
“We don’t bring Lord Ganesh at our place but there is this tradition followed at my mother’s and in-law’s place where the idol is brought to the residence of the eldest son. We have been bringing the Lord for the past fifty years at my mother’s place and for the last seventy five years at my in-laws house,” she said.
She continued, “The entire family visits the place for pooja. So we go to my uncle’s for darshan on the second day. The following day, we visit the Ganpati at my husband’s uncle’s place. So the first three days are reserved for darshans. We often don’t get to visit friends because most of them have Ganpati at home for one and half days.”
When asked about her special preparation for the day, she answered, “We have now passed it onto the younger generations. They look after the decor and we guide them accordingly. We have also not changed the place of the idol for past so many years.”
Talking about her special visit to Mumbai’s famous temple, Supriya quipped, “Every year we visit Siddhivinayak to attend the Mahapuja. The atmosphere is really divine as there’s an altogether different aura in performing the aarti with such a massive number of devotees.”
