Actress Amrita Chattopadhyay, who was seen in flicks like Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa (Hindi), Bhengchi (Bengali) and Janla Diye Bou Palalo (Bengali), is a book lover.
Whenever she gets time she loves to read books.
It seems books are her best friends.
Tellychakkar.com got chatty with the Bengali beauty, where she talked about her all time favourite books and also why one should read them.
During the conversation, she mentioned the following books. Here have a look-
Golpo Guccho: I must start with Golpo Guccho. Short stories can be of so many types. There is a typical thing about short stories. Even after completing the story it feels as if the story is yet to complete.
‘Na Hanyate’ by Maitreyi Devi: Aah…the portrayal of love and loss…according to me this is one of the best love stories written ever.
‘Parapar’ by Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay: One should read the book for its simple characters. They are so brilliantly portrayed…their philosophical nonchalance to the materialistic world and where people are not black and white but tinted, I would say… That is Shirshendu’s masterstroke. I love such characters.
‘Prothom Alo’ and ‘Shei Somoy’ by Sunil Gangopadhyay: The books should be read to truly understand that bygone era of us.
‘Uttaradhikar’, ‘Kalbela’ and ‘Kalpurush’ by Samaresh Majumdar: One should read these three books to get an idea of the socio political scenario of Bengal at that time.
Nice choice, Amrita!
