Bagging my first lead role was nothing less than a miracle: Soumi Chakraborty

Actress Soumi Chakraborty, who is playing the female lead in Colors Bangla’s recently launched soap Ki Kore Toke Bolbo, says that she is the opposite of Jannat, her character in the daily. “Jannat is a very positive and mature character, who always tries to solve the problems. I am the opposite of her. I am not at all positive and quiet like her. I talk a lot,” Soumi expressed. She added, “Also, I love to play pranks on people. I love to laugh and have fun all the time.” Since this is your first show as a lead, were you nervous when you were offered the role? She replied, “I was very nervous.” “Thanks to Susanto da (Susanto Das, story writer) and Amit da (Amit Das, director) for having faith on me. Without their encouragement, it wouldn’t have been possible to reach this stage,” added the actress. When quizzed how she bagged the role, she quipped, “I got a call from the team. I had to appear for a look test in the morning. On the same day, in the evening I was told that I will have to appear for the promo shoot.” “So, that day itself I got selected, shot for the promo and started shooting for the serial from the very next day. It was almost like a miracle,” she added with a smile. Great going, girl! Soumi, who is currently a second year, Accounts Honours student, has earlier acted in Aakash Aath’s Pandemonium.
