MUMBAI: The Indian entertainment space currently is witnessing a metamorphosis with the introduction of digital media. Digital media platforms have seen tremendous growth in less than a year. With international giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime and the homegrown ALTBalaji, the digital space has taken a spectacular leap.
Sources tell us that film producer Vibhu Aggarwal will soon launch a digital app named Firestix. Similar to the above services, Firestix would be a subscription-based video on demand (SVOD) service. The app is synergy of creative minds coming together to curate projects including short films, web series, films, and music videos.
Aggarwal, who hails from Lucknow, has invested considerable effort into the project. He owns Jaypeeco company and forayed into the entertainment industry as a producer in 2013 with Ali Fazal starrer Baat Bann Gayi. The film bombed at the box office; this obviously affected Aggarwal negatively. Nonetheless, he is back to the world of glitz and glamour, this time with his own app.
When TellyChakkar got in touch with Vibhu, he stated, ‘Firestix is an app where we will stream our original work with varied timelines. There will be different concepts for the show.’
He further added, ‘I had the idea for this app in 2015; however, I started working on it in 2017.’
Vibhu plans to launch the app between 15 August and 1 September 2018.
The makers are currently working on the content.
A short film starring Mrunal Jain and Madhurima Tuli and a project directed by Deepak Pandey starring TV actor Sudhanshu Pandey are among those in the pipeline.
With the growing digital craze, it would be interesting to see this app’s lineup.
