Splitsvilla fame Akash Choudhary put on RENT; Lambasts

Splitsvilla
MUMBAI: If you’ve been on social media lately, you must have read about a new app that allows you to rent a boyfriend for a day. Several news portals have plastered Splitsvilla fame Akash Chaudhary as the face of the app. According to certain portals, one can rent hot models as their boyfriends, including reality show participant Akash.

The model, who was the guest for Rent a Boyfriend’s launch held on 15 August, was unaware of the fact that he is perceived as a rentable boyfriend. Soon, the story went viral on social media, and he was flooded with over '1000 messages', from his friends and social circuit interrogating him about the fiasco.

TellyChakkar exclusively got in touch with Akash with regard to the misunderstanding. 'So I know the founder of the app. He is an acquaintance. He asked me to come to the launch and I obliged. I was not even paid for it,' he reveals. He tells us that during the launch, he interacted with several media reporters and spoke about depression and the idea behind the app. However, nowhere did he mention his participation or inclusion in the rentable model list.

'I don’t know who has done this release (story). Probably the app makers are using my name and popularity. They don’t have my permission, so we are going the legal way now.'

Akash, along with his two lawyers, is prepping to file a lawsuit against the app and certain media portals for tarnishing his image and name. 'Monetary compensation is not a concern. I demand a public apology. The major problem is that my family and friends are reading the headline. Although there is nothing wrong with the story, the headline sounds wrong that you can rent a boyfriend. People are assuming I’m into escort services. My sister was hassled since she is at a respectable position in a bank. So I am going through trauma! I have not slept for the last two nights. People have already started being judgemental.'

He also adds that he is receiving nasty messages from 'uncles, aunties' and people from several sections, asking about renting him. 'I just need to tell people that you can’t rent me as a boyfriend. By God’s grace, I’m doing well in my life and I don’t need such things,' he concludes.
