Kolkata: The Bengali audience is in for a treat this Puja, with their favourite 'Satyanweshi' arriving on 12 October and Abir Chatterjee returning on screen as Byomkesh Bakshi in Arindam Sil’s Byomkesh Gowtro.
The official trailer of Byomkesh Gowtro has teased viewers for quite some time and is finally here on the death anniversary of legendary writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay, who created sensational literary character Byomkesh Bakshi. Thus, Bengalis were introduced to a new flavour of detective stories.
Inspired by Bandyopadhyay's Rakter Daag, the official trailer begins with a 'lovely triangle', as quoted by Byomkesh Bakshi as he mentions his wife Satyabati (with a glimpse of Sohini Sarkar), himself as Satyanweshi, and Satyakam (with a glimpse of Arjun Chakrabarty).
Satyakam, a young versatile man from Mussoorie, meets Mr Bakshi in Kolkata to discuss his murder! Ajit, Byomkesh’s best friend and sidekick (played by Rahul Banerjee) cross-questions him, 'Why would anyone want to kill you?' Satyakam’s reply builds a certain mystery around the situation, as he exclaims, 'I am very popular or, rather, unpopular...the entire town of Mussoorie is after me.' As the trailer goes on, we see Satyakam’s relationship with his parents and see three ladies (played by Priyanka Sarkar, Sauraseni Maitra, and Bibriti Chatterjee) who seem to be mesmerised by his charms. Satyabati is surprised that these ladies like him as her perception of Satyakam is that of a casanova. Ultimately, he does get shot in the back and dies. Thus, his prediction of being murdered becomes true. Now it’s time for Byomkesh to solve the complicated murder mystery. Is this about relations bound until death or the death of relations?
