Despite the challenges, being part of the small screen is a huge learning experience, says actor Vikas Verma. The actor, who has been part of both films and TV, says that his shows have taught him a lot. “Both platforms are different. TV makes me feel that I am back to school to learn as there is a very short time limit to do things. But in films, we have the freedom to act and move according to the character. And I do historical shows as I can play an unimaginable character and create it in my way,” says Vikas, who has been part of shows such as Jhansi Ki Rani, Hatim and Chandragupta Maurya.

However, the actor loves being part of both platforms. “I believe there are no boundaries but different mediums and audiences. I enjoy both the platform and would love to come on any other platform also if given a chance,” he says.

Talking about his struggle, Vikas says it was tough to get a break on TV.  “It was tough in the beginning. When I came to Mumbai the scenario was totally different. I used to only get only cameo roles. No one knows this but I did one-day roles to survive in the city. Then I got lucky in films and then everything fell in my way. But yes, I made sure that every shot I give is worth watching. This city takes time to accept but once it accepts you there is no looking back. Films take time to be made. There are constant delays. It isn't easy to stay motivated. The lure of bollywood is magnetic. It gives twinkle in your eyes. Only actors wh oare in bollywood or aspiring for it can understand it !” he says.

Ask him do things like competition bother him, and he says, “I focus on my own work and talent. Competition exists in every industry. You can’t escape it. Minding your own business is the best attitude. You can do your best, that is in your hands.  Competition is rampant in bollywood. For one role there are so many actors considered. It is not easy to create your own space.Competition always existed and will always exist, you have to focus on your strengths and the rest is destiny,” he says.
