Exhibition of screen beauties to mark the beginning of 12th Osians Film Fest

The 12th Osians Cinefan Film Festival will kick start with an exhibition dedicated to screen beauties from the past 100 years of Indian Cinema in the capital next month. The exhibition titled `The Divas of Indian Cinema: 100 Years of Beauty and Grace`, the pictures of which have been taken from the Osianama Archive Collection, will reveal the special status that actresses have enjoyed in films over the years. The actresses who would be prominently featured in the exhibition include Devika Rani, Nadia, Suraiya, Kamini Kaushal, Meena Kumari, Geeta Bali, Nargis, Madhubala, Nutan and Mala Sinha. Also featured in the exhibition would be actresses like Waheeda Rehman, Saira Banu, Vyjayanthimala, Asha Parekh, Hema Malini, Mumtaz, Sharmila Tagore, Helen and Jaya Bachchan not to miss beauties like Rekha, Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai, Vidya Balan and Kareena Kapoor. The exhibition attempts to pay homage to these icons as they have portrayed various personas of a woman be it mother, goddess, vamp, lover or redeemer. The cinematic artworks comprise vintage and rare posters, show-cards, stills, song-synopsis booklets among other artifacts. The exhibition will be on from 27 July to 5 August 2012.
