Everyone knows that Mazhar Sayed came to limelight with the highly publicized Balaji show Kahiin Kisi Roz where he played Anish. But very few people know that he had ventured on the tube with a DD Gold show, Kavita in which he replaced Ram Kapoor (of Kasamh Se fame) and was paired opposite none other than Smriti Irani!
This theatre actor has also starred in the Hema Malini serial, Kamini Damini which was short phased on the tube. And now once again lady luck is smiling at Mazhar! He has been highly appreciated for his act as Samar on Saath Phere on Zee.

Talking about his personal life, Mazhar has been much talked about because of his 'special relationship' with bong beauty Moulli Ganguly. Also, besides acting, he is passionate about writing as it runs in his genes (the Late Hasrat Jaipuri is his mama).
In an exclusive chat with Prashant Golecha, this handsome and talented actor talks about his career so far and also about his lady love, Moulli!
"I did theatre for seven years"
I have worked with reputed names like Salim Ghose, Atul Kumar and Shiva. I have also done many English plays and a French play, Love Is The Best Remedy with Harsh (RJ of a radio station). It was my first ever paid play. Actor Amit Verma introduced me to Kader Khan and I did a play, Taash Ke Patte in 2000.
"I always dreamt of being an actor"
Hence I got my portfolio shot and dropped my pictures everywhere, including Balaji Telefilms. Through a model co-coordinator Mona Irani, I got a call for an audition for Kahiin Kissi Roz, went for it and bagged the role of Anish. Before this show, I have acted in a weekly, Kavita for DD Gold in which I replaced Ram Kapoor and was paired opposite Smriti Irani. I was very raw and by that time Smriti had become popular as Tulsi. For six months I had jitters, as I could not handle the fact that that I was working with such an established actress. I wasn't even aware of technical terms. Next I did a comic role in Kuuch Jukhi Palke for Sony followed by Kamini Damini for B. R. Films. After a cameo in Kesar, Balaji has approached me for such roles, but I am looking out for a full-fledged roles.
"I was awestruck when I first met Hema Malini"
She played my mother in Kamini Damini. She signifies grace, has an amazing aura and a beautiful smile. She also made us comfortable. After six months the show went off air.
"Saath Phere filled the vacuum in my career"
I was looking out for substantial role and was suddenly approached to fill in the character of Samar (earlier essayed by Anand Suryavanshi) in Saath Phere. I am happy I took it up. Samar is led by circumstances and falls prey to his scheming wife Kaveri (Aachal Divedi). You can say my character is situationally negative.
"Off-screen too I call Rajshri (Saloni) my behen"
And she calls me bhai. The other cast members are nice too. Mohan Bhandari is like a friend and is a fun-loving guy. Achal Divedi treats me like a buddy, I keep pulling her leg by taunting her that she is turning bitchier by the day. She is scared that her off-screen life will be affected by her on-screen character. Also, she's the one who diets, while I am a foodie!
"I would love to do comedies"
Something on the lines of Yeh Jo Hain Zindagi or maybe something as simple and realistic as Malgudi Days. I don't plan out things and take things as they come.
"Moulli is a very special person in my life and will remain so"
She is a wonderful, beautiful and professional co-star (in Kahiin Kissi Roz). For the initial three months we hardly spoke to each other. After that we became good friends. Sudha Chandran, Moulli and I used to have great conversations about life and other things. Talking about Moulli, we shared a common interest when it came to films and food. We started going out for movies and dinners. Both of us harbour a middle class mentality - we believe in saving, dislike parties and discotheques. Also, we aren't computer savvy, though she has learnt quite a bit in the last few months. I want this special relationship to last forever!
"I am like a volcano"
I am strong and broadminded individual who loves to tread the path of truth. Hence I always fight for justice. I am an extrovert when I have to deal with the society but go into my shell once in a while.
"I am the only son of my parents"
But I don't miss having any siblings. I have been born and brought up in Mumbai. My father is into aviation and my mom is a home maker. I have been brought up in a simple environment and that's made me a simple and grounded individual.
"The Late Hasrat Jaipuri is my mama"
I don't think I am a gifted lyricist but I am passionate about writing, particularly philosophy. I even write English poems and in the past they have even been posted on a website. I have backed out of screenplay writing many a times as I prefer concept writing and lining up the shows. But I can't write dialogues. I'll share a few lines I have penned -
