MUMBAI: Devotees gather to worship Lord Shiva with utmost faith and devotion on Maha Shivratri, a night of holy energy. This day is very important to Siddhi Sharma, who portrays Gulki in Sun Neo's program Ishq Jabariya. She thinks that people should observe Maha Shivratri with complete devotion and faith, embracing the customs with genuineness.
"Maha Shivratri is the best time to worship Lord Shiva with full devotion," Siddhi says, discussing her Maha Shivratri customs. I fast on Mondays for my job and personal development, but many girls do it in hopes of finding a wonderful husband. On Maha Shivratri, we show our devotion and faith by fasting. In order to avoid large lines, my sister and I get up early, at approximately five in the morning, to visit the temple. We take our Rudraksha, present it to Lord Shiva, do the puja, and observe the Naag Dosha rites. We fervently embrace the customs, offering prayers and fruits while barefoot.
"One story of Lord Shiva that truly inspires me is how he never had attachment to anything," she says, referring to a lesson she believes is applicable in today's fast-paced world. Instant gratification has become a major problem in today's generation. We want everything right away, including monetary possessions, happiness, and success. However, in order to maintain control over our wants, we must maintain our spiritual alignment. That's what I think. I've learnt to be happy with what I have from Lord Shiva. Maya (attachment and delusion) must always be kept within reasonable bounds. The mind is restless and constantly searching for something. I make an effort to maintain a spiritual state in order to avoid taking drastic measures in my life.''
