Sadak 2 review: A lackluster sequel

Sadak 2 premiered on Disney+Hotstar, and here is the complete review of the movie.

MUMBAI: After the successful run of Sadak in 1991, which starred Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt in the lead roles, the makers are now back with the sequel of the movie. This version features Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapoor, and Sanjay Dutt. This Mahesh Bhatt directorial also has Jishu Sengupta, Makrand Deshpande, and Gulshan Grover as the supporting cast.

The story picks up from where the 1991 movie ended, and now, Ravi, played by Sanjay Dutt, is seeking death and does want to live after losing his wife Pooja (Pooja Bhatt). But then, Araya, played by Alia Bhatt, enters his life. Her lover Vishal is played by Aditya Roy Kapoor. Araya has an ulterior motive.

What happened to Pooja? Will Ravi be able to survive and help Araya? Well, these questions are answered in this 133-minute movie.

The movies lacks in many ways. The screenplay is dull and fails to connect with the audiences right from the very first scene to the last scene. The direction of the movie is not at all up to the mark. In fact, it spoils the brand value of Sadak 1991.

Acting wise, only Sanjay Dutt as Ravi is bearable in the movie, but at many points, the actor fails to deliver what he is known for, and we have seen Sanjay delivering much better performances than this. On the other hand, Alia Bhatt was decent but had nothing different to offer. Aditya Roy Kapoor was not used to his potential. Jishu Sengupta, Makrand Deshpande, and Gulshan Grover were strictly okay.

The positives are very hard to find. Sanjay Dutt and his acting are the only saving grace. The locations are covered well during the road trip in the film.

There are a lot of negatives. The poor writing makes the movie look very dull, and the slow screenplay fails to attract the attention of the audiences. The plot is confusing and lackluster in many ways.

Overall, Sadak 2 is full of loopholes and a complete waste of talent.

Team TellyChakkar goes with 1.5 stars for Sadak 2.
