Satyamev Jayate ends; TV stars pat Aamir Khan for a brilliant initiative

Indian Television’s biggest show, in terms of reach and popularity, Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate on Star Plus, has come to an end. Like an untamed avalanche, it forced its way into the hearts of millions. Indian Television’s biggest show, in terms of reach and popularity, Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate on Star Plus, has come to an end. Like an untamed avalanche, it forced its way into the hearts of millions. At a time, when the TV janta gobbles down hours and hours of saas bahu drama, Satyamev came as a much needed relief for tube lovers. Its last episode was shrouded with positivity wherein Mr Khan depicted all the success stories and pointed out at the silver lining in India’s otherwise dark scheme of things. He said to the masses that all is not bad…folks…this is a beautiful country and adhering to the preamble of our constitution, one can actually take this nation back to its golden and glory days. Over the 13 episodes, Aamir touched upon different issues that curse every Indian of this country. At a time when progression is the catchword of the administration, it was sad and disheartening to see concerns like infanticide, manual scavenging, honor killings, amongst others, plague the future of this country. Apart from the content –each episode interestingly ended with a beautiful song – the series became a rage in the social networking sphere. People just could not stop talking about it. Of course, the show tickled the emotional sides of people and at many times it appeared to be unilateral in approach. But we are sure that the second season (which will hit the screens next year), will be more poignant in terms of research and substance. We all loved the show and Tellychakkar.com decided to talk to some of your favourite TV stars and asked them if they shared the same opinion. Let’s see what they had to say: Anas Rashid opined, “I loved the whole concept. Great attempt made by Aamir Khan. Hats off to him for bringing up such a project and spreading awareness amongst people. All the episodes were extremely heartening but I think the sequences on female foeticide, child sexual abuse, old age problems, alcohol abuse, were very heart breaking. I understand their problems and feel like holding one`s hand or hugging them who are suffering from such concerns. The show was compared to many other shows pertaining to social issues but I think Satyamev Jayate has actually managed to educate the masses. Aamir Khan’s popularity has made a huge difference. Next season of Satyamev Jayate should raise the issues of child labour, problems in train reservations, road accidents, drink and drive cases, frauds in property and exploitation of kids. And they should reflect the impact before and after the show ended.” Karan Mehra, who is currently seen as Naitik in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, also voiced in favour of Aamir’s attempt. “It’s a great show and brilliant effort by Aamir Khan. Because of his initiative the show got good response and people started talking about it. I didn’t watch all the episodes but I did manage to check the episode on female foeticide. I was moved to the core when I saw the story of a woman whose face was eaten by her husband for not being able to give birth to a male child. Honor killings are also very depressing.” He continued, “Satyamev got everyone talking and infused new positive thoughts in the minds of people. They highlighted many issues and sometimes they got criticized but often applauded. Next season they should highlight issues like unemployment, corruption, child labour and lack of education.” Handsome hunk Kushal Tandon shared, “It was an eye-opener of a show. It dealt with many serious issues like female foeticide, child sex abuse, medical malpractice, dowry et al. The very fact that Aamir Khan was hosting it made people sit up and notice. It helped to spread awareness. In the next season I want them to focus on issues black money and they should get everything back in the country.” On the other hand, Niaa Sharma, who is seen in Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai as Maanvi, averred, “Great step taken from Aamir Khan. He has taken television to a different level altogether. In a country like India, we sit at home and we don’t know the ground realities like child marriages, female foeticide, domestic violence but Satyamev Jayate managed to highlight on such issues. One must applaud the research that has gone behind the making of each episode.” “It’s true that people took notice but nothing really major came out of it. I just hope that some concrete comes out of the initiative. Next season should focus on lack of education, prostitution of young girls, et al.” Finally, we got in touch with Rati Pandey, seen in Hitler Didi as Indira, and she said, “It was a brilliant show with a different notion. All the episodes in Satyamev Jayate were life changing. It has become the nation’s favourite show now. All the stories were inspiring and remarkable. Aamir Khan tried his best and touched all grave issues. It started changing the mindset of people and society. It’s not the end but a new start for India.” You have heard what your favourite stars have to say. Let us know about your comments!!!
