The new normal has always been my normal: Vishwanath Chatterjee
People around the world have accepted the new normal of wearing masks, carrying sanitizers, and taking extra care of their surroundings, because of the current COVID scenario. However, actor Vishwanath Chatterjee, who is currently seen in Edit II's "Excuse Me Madam!", says for him the new normal is not new, it's his regular.

He said, "Working in the new normal is not much different for me. Even on normal days, I used to carry my food, water, and a bedsheet for my room on the set. The only difference is that I wear a mask now and remove it just before action. So the new normal has always been my normal."

Talking about his role, he said that his on-screen character is a simple guy with a Bengali accent and is pitted against Rajesh Kumar's character in the show. He also shared his experience of working with producers Binaiferr and Sanjay Kohli and said, "My experience of working with them has been great. I am also working with them in 'Happu Ki Ultan Paltan'.

"I am in this team because of the director Shashank Bali and writer Manoj Santoshi. Kavita Kaushik is a good friend of mine, and I met them through her. I respect both Shashank Ji and Manoj Bhai a lot. I have met Binaiffer and Sanjay Kohli a couple of times and the experience of working with them is good," he added.

From theatres to TV, films, and web, Vishwanath has worked on all four platforms. He has been a part of films like "Dhadak", "Lukka Chuppi", and "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani", to name a few, and was also seen in web series like "Panchayat". But, he shared that he enjoyed doing theatre the most.

"TV, web and films, all three are the director's medium. The director is the captain of these. But in theatre, the actor is the captain as he needs to interact with a live audience. You need to match the audience's energy. And when you are doing theatre, the laughter depends on the region too, like some people in Bengal will laugh at a different scene, while in the same play the audience in Mumbai will laugh at another. So, I enjoy doing theatre the most, after that, it will be web for me. Because on the web, you don't have a hero, it's all about the scenes. Then I enjoy doing films, the last will be TV," he said.

But when asked what kind of roles he enjoys the most, he said, "If I have to choose, I would say it will be a negative character or a grey shade one. Because in that I get to do things that I can't do in real life. I am a very positive person and people see me like that daily, but a negative character allows an actor to do variations with his role."

"Also, a negative character says all sugar-coated stuff and later people get to know what was the hidden meaning behind all that. But, in real life I talk straight, I don't beat around the bush, so these are some reasons why I enjoy doing negative or grey roles," Vishwanath signed off.
