I bagged the show because the makers needed a dusky-skinned girl: Akanksha Pal aka Megha of Pinjra Khoobsurti Ka

Akanksha Pal who plays the role of Megha in Colors’ Pinjra Khoobsurti Ka shares her thoughts with TellyChakkar.com

MUMBAI: Colors’ show Pinjra Khoobsurti Ka is gaining the love from the audience. The show revolves around the concept of umptine importance given to the outer beauty of a girl as compared to her inner beauty.

Actress Akanksha Pal plays the character of Megha in the show. Megha is the elder daughter of the family and has dusky skin while her younger sister Mayura is extremely fair and beautiful. The show depicted the issues faced by a dusky skinned girl as the marriage proposals would often slip from Megha’s favour and fall in favour of Mayura.

TellyChakkar.com got in touch with Akanksha to know more about the character.

Speaking about Megha's character, Akanksha said, “Megha has faced a lot of rejection and is fighting with the society because of the dusky skin that she is born with. I can relate with the turmoil that Megha is in because in real life too, I’ve faced the repercussions of having a wheatish complexion. During auditions people would reject me because of my skin color and not because of a bad performance. I bagged this show because they needed a dusky skinned girl”.

She added, “Recalling my initial days in Mumbai, I used to give auditions for a lot of projects be in advertisements, tv soaps etc but often I used to get rejected as the producers would require fair and pretty looking girls”.

She said, “The moment I came to know about the requirement of a dusky skinned girl for a Colors’ show I was excited to give an audition for the same as I thought I would nail it. After knowing Megha’s backstory I could relate to it and was wishing to bag the part and finally I did”.

We asked the beautiful actress about the bond that she shares with the cast members, she said, “We are like a family, like literally. My onscreen family consists of me, Mayura, Dadi and my parents; we’ve been shooting since day 1 and we gelled along pretty well. I ‘m glad to be working with such warm people. Riya is like my younger sister. We’ve just started shooting with Omkar’s family and must say they too are very nice. I really adore the way Jaya jee (Bhattacharya) takes care of everyone. It’s great when shooting becomes fun with these people”.
