MUMBAI: Aasiya Kazi is a multi-faceted actress and there is no doubt about that seeing her career choices.
Aasiya started her career with a show titled Bandini, which was a concept way ahead from the time it aired. In conversation with the actress, she opened up and shared her experience shooting for the show and also how Colors’ show Molkki is on the similar lines.
She shared, “As an actor I feel I was very lucky to be a part of that show and play the main protagonist. There are very rare characters which are remembered for a long span of time and Santu is one of them. While playing the character also it has many layers. She was a simple girl, then she went to jail and siddently had a different attire all together and there was a change in her behavior as well. So it was a very big opportunity for me. However, I would like to mention that I was too young at that time to understand what I had got then and I performed what came to me naturally. Today, when I sit back and watch myself, I cannot imagine what I performed. So I feel very blessed to have received this opportunity.
Bandini was a popular show because the concept was very different. I have done other shows as well and my last show Tenali Rama was also a distinguished concept. I don’t think everyone gets a chance to play versatile roles like comedy, negative and positive as well because after a particular point you tend to get typecast. But that has been in my case. I never thought I would ever do a negative or a comedy genre. The producers saw that in me. “
Speaking of Bandini, Aasiya also opened up about a current show running on Colors titled Molkki featuring Amar Upadhyay and Priyal Mahajan. She averred, “I have seen a few episodes and have got messages from fans as well that the show is similar to Bandini and I feel that yes, it is on those ground but again the starcast and background is different and people are loving that show as well. I think such shows where there is an age gap and the concept is different, there is a risk involved but then people have accepted it so lovingly and people found the chemistry in Bandini very cute. Working with Ronit Roy, it was my first show and my forst co-actor. I felt very blessed to share screen space with him as I got to learn so many things. There were many senior actors and I used to see them performing. I am very professional when it comes to work and that is something I have learn from Ronit Roy. I have followed that throughout my career and have been appreciated so I feel blessed to have shot my first show with him.”
Aasiya is also active in making blogs.
She asked, “I am actually not a traveler and I like to visit places where there is peace and I am relaxing. I have started vlogging because it kept me occupied and initially I was not very open to the concept but now that I am doing it I am enjoying the process and I plan to continue doing it for a long time.”
When asked about her inclination for her next project, Aasiya shared, “I want to do something action packed. I am open to webseries too but it has to be something family oriented. I am not comfortable with bold or intimate scenes. With webseries I have been getting offers but somehow things did not materialize because of this reason. The OTT space is a platform where one can get to polish their skills so I would definitely like to explore the medium and creativity. “
