MUMBAI: Known to have directed films like Mitti Aur Sona, Jaalsaaz, Sone Ki Zanjeer and Hum Tum Aur Woh among many others, filmmaker shiv Kumar Khurana has passed away aged 83. He was admitted in Mumbai’s Brahmakumari Global Hospital, where he was receiving treatmnet for age related issues and he breathed his last there. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
Shiv Kumar reportedly launched the careers of Vinod Khanna and even Vindu Dara Singh. The latter was a part of the popular reality show Bigg Boss season 3. Vinod Khanna who began his career as a villain, was taken as a lead actor by Shiv Kumar in his film Hum Tum Aur Woh and was noticed after that.
Shiv Kumar Khurana’s last film was Krishna Tere Desh Mein which released in 1999 but failed to impress the audiences. He then took a back seat from the spotlight after directing nearly 18 Hindi films in his career. Fans and industry folks have paid their respects on social media to the late filmmaker. Vindu Dara Singh wrote, “wonderful soul may god give his family the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss”

Shiv Kumar Khurana’s prayer meeting took place on Friday at the Four Bungalows, Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Andheri West in Mumbai.
