MUMBAI: Anupamaa is currently ruling our television screen and winning hearts all over.
Madalsa Sharma is currently portraying the role of Kavya in Star Plus’ Anupamaa, which is her television debut.
She made her acting debut in the 2009 Telugu film Fitting master. She went on to do various south Indian films post that. Her maiden Bollywood film Angel, by choreographer Ganesh Acharya released in 2011 and she received a lot of praise for her performance. Later in 2014, her second Hindi film, Sooraj Barjatya Rajshri Productions' Samrat & Co. released.
Tellychakkar recently got in touch with the actress and got to know interesting insights.
The way the plot began and the way it is currently going, Kavya has had a complete journey. What do you have to say about that?
I feel extremely fortunate as an actor that I have gotten to play so many shades and layers because there has not been a monotone in my role. I have had so many different shades to play with, it started off with a little grey. It was grey in terms of being practical and realistic. Those shades are what we face every day in our life, not being in a bubble or being all goody-goody. Kavya has only been dealing with situations and reacting to those situations because she wants the best for herself and the love of her life, Vanraj. Then later she became a daughter-in-law of the Shah family. It took a while for the Shah family to accept me as their daughter-in-law. Now, she is a part of the family and she is living for them. You got to see the vulnerable and positive side of Kavya. So much has happened that I can write a book. Kavya has been in all the shades from hatred, to jealousy, to love, to passion, to anger, to sadness, to frustration, to break down, to thrill, to excitement, everything. I am still looking forward to playing much more of it because emotions are endless.
Kavya has always been really practical, no matter what other people thought of or called her. Do you feel Anupama is more emotional than practical?
I think Anupama is very practical these days. I feel she used to be emotional earlier when she used to give up on her dreams, the passion of dancing and not being able to pursue anything she wishes to. She is now a self-made person because now when she got married to someone else, it is a different flavor in that house altogether. So now she has got responsibilities, she is taking charge of the business, managing her dance academy, and doing things she always wanted to do. She even started studying again and doing things she never did before. She is still emotional but at the same time, she now realizes that she has got the strength that she has got the support of Anuj also.
Anupama has had a complete journey from being scared of Vanraj to taking a stand in front of him. What do you think made her the way she is now?
When you don’t have any support and if you want to do something for yourself, you can think or dream about it but you cannot execute it because you don’t have that kind of support from your family. So naturally, you give in and become submissive. That is a part of your emotion. But now Anupama has complete support from her family, she is much stronger and not an emotional fool anymore.
