MUMBAI: Ever since the trailer of the movie Mission Raniganj was out, fans were eagerly looking forward to the movie. The movie, which is based on the rescue mission of 71 coal miners which went up to 48 hours in Raniganj, is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai.

The movie has finally hit the big screen and definitely, it has many goosebump moments. But unfortunately, the execution lacks at many levels.

The movie begins with the situation where the water is coming inside the mines and there are around 71 coal miners stuck below the ground. Now, there is a rescue operation led Jaswant Singh Gill, played by Akshay Kumar and he has to device the rescue operation within 48 hours. Will the call miners be out and what will be the rescue operation be is what the movie is about.

The screenplay of the movie is strictly average and so is the direction by Tinu Suresh Desai. Also, there are many loop holes in the movie.

Talking about the performances, we are going to see actor Akshay Kumar once again in a different avatar as Jaswant Singh Gill, who is leading the rescue operation. We have seen the actor playing a sardar character earlier in the movie Kesari, which also had a Parineeti Chopra. The performances of the actor falls flat at the first half, but you will get to see a powerpack performance in the second half. Unfortunately, we get to see less of actress Parineeti Chopra in the movie, but she has looked beautiful in the scenes. On the other hand, Ravi Kishan, Jameel Khan, Varun Badola, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Sharma and Kumud Mishra have manage to draw attention with their power-packed performances.

Talking about the positive point of the movie, it has to be the story and the concept which has been brought in front of the fans and audience in today's time. The subject of the movie is very good and we have never seen something like this in our Indian cinema. On the other hand, the performances coming from every actor is a treat to watch. There are few goosebumps moments which will definitely make you clap.

Having said all these positive points, the movie has more of the negative points. In spite of having a such a brilliant concept, the movie lacks execution. The execution of the movie is very poor. There are many scenes which are looking completely fake, which does not allow movie to connect with the audience. Also, there are many scenes which are looking fake in terms of CGI and VFX. The flood scenes are looking completely fake which is definitely disrupting the viewing experience. Also, you can notice many dubbing issues in different scenes with different actors. There are many scenes and sequences which look a little forceful and does not add value.

Well, having said all these points, Mission Raniganj is a movie which is the perfect example of having a brilliant concept and subject with a very bad execution.

Team Tellychakkar goes with 2.5/5 for Mission Raniganj
