MUMBAI :This season of the infamous talk show, Koffee With Karan, hosted by Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, is returning, in addition to celebrities gracing his couch, the host himself will be seen revealing some hot beans about his life. KJo admitted to Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in the first episode that he had experienced a period of depression.
Bollywood power couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh were the first to grace a couch in the new season of Koffee With Karan 8, which debuted on Thursday. In the episode, KJo was shown applauding Deepika for speaking up about her mental health problems and disclosing that he was also going through a difficult time, which he didn't realize until he had a breakdown at a public event.
During the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) launch event in April of this year, KJo was spotted telling Deepika and Ranveer about his severe mental breakdown. The director claimed that while he was interacting with people and getting ready for the event, he suddenly had an anxiety attack, which Varun Dhawan was the first to notice.
He revealed that Varun had led him into an empty room, checked on him, and noticed that he was sweating heavily. KJo said as he began to emotional, "My hands were shaking. I did some breathing exercises and I was confused if it was a cardiac arrest or what. I got out of my long and elaborate jacket and I left in half an hour. I just went to my bed and I wept. I just cried and I didn't know why I was crying."
KJo also brought up Deepika's period of depression and praised her for bravely overcoming it. He revealed to Ranveer in the show that he witnessed Deepika cry on a helicopter journey back to Mumbai from Alibaug many years ago after they had celebrated Shah Rukh Khan's birthday.
Then, despite not completely comprehending her mental state, Deepika was seen telling KJo about how Ranveer had always been there for her, encouraging her when she was at her lowest.
