MUMBAI : Actor Thalapathy Vijay shocked his fans all over the country last month when he declared that he would be leaving the film industry after just two films and that he would soon be entering politics. According to speculations, Atlee will be directing Vijay's 69th and likely final project.
There is a lot of talk about the South acting sensation's latest film project, which is reportedly titled Thalapathy 69, as he gets ready to enter politics. If rumors about the film are to be believed, Vijay's most recent film will be directed by Atlee. Further reports claim that the actor would appear in the Sun Pictures-produced movie alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
The music director is reportedly Anirudh Ravichander. Filmmakers connected to Thalapathy 69 in the past included Vetrimaaran, Trivikram, and H Vinoth. The reports' makers are waiting for an official confirmation.
In February, the actor declared his intention to run in the Tamil Nadu elections of 2026 and established his political organization, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam. Subsequently, Vijay declared that Thalapathy 69 would be his final film before he entered politics.
Shooting is already on for Thalapathy Vijay's eagerly awaited 68th movie, directed by Venkat Prabhu and dubbed GOAT (The Greatest Of All Time). Prabhu Deva, Prashanth, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Parvati Nair, and numerous other actors also feature in the movie. Under the auspices of AGS Entertainment, Kalpathi S Aghoram, Kalpathi S Ganesh, and Kalpathi S Suresh are producing it. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the composer of the music, Siddhartha Nuni oversees the photography, and Venkat Raajen handles the editing.
The actor's recent appearance was in Lokesh Kanagaraj's movie Leo. Alongside Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Trisha, Gautam Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, and others, Vijay portrayed the title character. Produced by Seven Screen Studio, the movie grossed over Rs 600 crore at the box office, making it one of the largest movies in India for 2023.
