On August 13, 1963, in the Tamil Nadu village of Meenampatti, Sridevi was born. At the age of four, Sridevi made her acting debut, and for almost fifty years, she was the best in the business.

In 1976, Sridevi received her first significant part in the Tamil film 'Moondru Mudichu.' After that, she collaborated with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan on multiple movies. Are you aware that Sridevi made more money for 'Moondru Mudichu' than Rajinikanth did? Sridevi acknowledged this on Prakash Raj's chat show ‘Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi,’ revealing that the 1976 Tamil movie she worked on paid her Rs 5,000. K Balachander directed the movie. Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, her co-stars in the movie, received salaries of Rs 2,000 and Rs 30,000, respectively.

While she and Rajinikanth were relatively new to the industry at the time, Sridevi disclosed that Kamal Haasan was already a well-known actor.

Sridevi spoke about how nervous she was during the iconic picnic scene where Kamal Haasan falls into a lake and Rajinikanth refuses to help him. "Instead of saying ‘Poitare Poitare’, I started yelling ‘Pootare Pootare’ (a colloquial usage). Kamal sir was holding onto the boat and laughing so much at this that the boat was shaking. And then the director Balachander was yelling and asking why the boat was shaking," she said.

Sridevi used to be the highest-paid actress in Bollywood. Reports state that she was also the first to demand Rs 1 crore for a single film.

'Solva Sawan,' Sridevi's debut Bollywood film, was released in 1979. The movie was a commercial failure, but she made waves in 1983 when she starred in the box-office hit 'Himmatwala,' which brought her widespread notification.
