MUMBAI, India—March 11, 2024—Prime Video just launched the melodious music album of Big Girls Don’t Cry, the upcoming young-adult series that premieres on March 14 in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. The mesmerizing album features eight spellbinding tracks, including a title track in the soulful voice of Amit Trivedi and Mali that celebrates friendship and sisterhood, championing the power of self-expression. Just like the series, the music album defies convention, norms, and traditions by embracing the unforgettable journey of independence, rebellion, friendship, love, and heartbreak experienced by the young girls through their formative years.

This multi-composer album, comprising songs written by Anvita Dutt, Shashwat Sachdev, Hussain Haidry, Priyanka Handa, Aneet Padda, Ankur Tewari, Siddhant Kaushal, and Tarana Marwah, in the voices of Amit Trivedi, Mali, Sanjith Hegde, Hanita Bhambri, Aneet Padda, Tarana Marwah, and Anubha Kaul, is a vibrant mix of emotions and musical styles that beautifully encapsulates the spirit of the series in the form of timeless melodies.

“The most fun part of filmmaking for me is creating the music. I think it is a gift that is given to directors. I was very keen for this young adult show to have an album, and it's turned out to be so diverse. That's what our girls are as well; they’re so diverse, they’re from different parts of India, and even with casting the composers, it was similar to the process we followed with casting our actors. I was so lucky to have Rahul Pais and Maalavika as our music supervisors, and Rahul did our background score. From Amit Trivedi to Komorebi to Kanishk, Shashwat, and Rahul, I think it is very much one of a kind. What I can say is that if music is the food of love, play on. Please listen to our music; it's going to be incredible,” said Nitya Mehra, creator and co-director of the series.

Composer and music supervisor, Rahul Pais, added, “Creating and curating music for the show was a lot of fun. All the main characters in the show are at an age where music becomes an integral part of one’s identity. It was really important that the music reflect the fresh, young sound of today.  All our artists have created some fantastic and diverse songs, and we hope everyone enjoys listening to the music as much as we enjoyed making it.”
