This Heeramandi actress who once wanted to become a doctor shared screen space with Shah Rukh Khan as his leading lady

Manisha Koirala is the "meet the actor" for today. The actress won numerous accolades for her performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.  

Manisha Koirala was born on August 16, 1970, in Biratnagar, Nepal. Her father, Prakash Koirala, was a member of Nepal's House of Representatives, a politician, and a former Cabinet minister.

Sushma Koirala, the actress's mother, stays at home. Siddharth Koirala, a former Bollywood actor, is her brother.

She traveled to Delhi and enrolled in the Army Public School (APS) in the Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi campus, abandoning her original goal of becoming a doctor. Koirala took on a couple modeling jobs in Delhi before turning her attention to acting.

 

 

After being part of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 1942: A Love Story, Manisha gained immense popularity  In 1995, she played the lead in the musical romance Akele Hum Akele Tum opposite Aamir Khan and received a lot of love. Next year, she did the comedy film Majhdhaar opposite Salman Khan.

Sadly, in 2012, Manisha was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and underwent treatment in New York. she recently made her comeback with the OTT series Heeramandi directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
