MUMBAI: Shruti Ulfat is currently seen in Star Plus show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. The actress is immensely talented and is a veteran in the industry. She has been seen in an array of films and television shows.

Giving her take on the same, Shruti shared, “Sadly, it is a world of social media now and I have accounts on platforms but it is seldom that I go into it. I will just post if there are collaborations. I am not very active on the medium as such. I’d rather watch sports and clean my make-up room. My phone is very distant from me. But yes, I would agree that social media is very much in vogue and everybody knows what is going on in each other’s lives.
With regards to landing roles depending on the number of followers, yes, I heard that people do see how many followers do actors have on social media and that the gauge on the basis of that but this was not the case when I joined 25 years ago as an artist. That time what mattered most was talent and how skilled you are as an artist along with how professional you are and what kind of a person you are. Today, there is no active participation of anyone in each other’s lives.
Earlier we used to visit each other’s home and they were most welcome. We never even asked but now you have to call. It is more like taking an appointment. Somewhere deep inside me I feel very sad and horrible about this as it is making us more distant.”
