MUMBAI : Zayed Khan, best known for his breakthrough performance in Farah Khan's "Main Hoon Na," lately gave some thought to his professional decisions and regretted his early decision to star in expensive action films. Zayed openly talked about how he should have prioritized building his career as a lead actor before taking on multi-starrer roles in an interview with the popular news portal.

Zayed talked candidly about the career difficulties that followed, “Main Hoon Na,” stating, “I took my stardom for granted and didn’t listen to many who advised me to do single-hero films. Once you are absorbed by a market, you have to show them that you can hold a film on your shoulders. It’s a big responsibility. Truth be told, I wanted to work in big films. I wasn’t bred to do artistic films… I was a physical actor. I was so much into the action genre that big-ticket action movies always got the better of me.”

He continued, “When many actors come together, budgets are justified to make those films. Probably I went into that a little too soon. I should have built my brand before saying yes to those big-ticket films. I regret that. Other than that, I signed on with some great people. Some of them didn’t just hit the golden goose. I mean, who wouldn’t sign a film like ‘Blue.’ On paper, they were amazing films with amazing technicians. I went with multi-starrers too much. My father was very miffed with me; he had his reservations. I really thought I knew what I was doing. When you’re a bit young and hot-blooded, you think you know everything… sometimes you get overwhelmed with that attention and believe whatever you’re doing is right.”

Zayed stated that Farah Khan was a fantastic mentor who helped him while filming. He remembered how his career path was affected by the shelving of multiple films in which he played a single hero.

After starring in 'Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene,' Zayed Khan is currently getting ready for his OTT debut in 'The Film That Never Was.' Zayed intends to make more deliberate decisions that highlight his ability as a lead actor going forward by taking stock of his previous choices and mapping out a more planned path for his acting career.
