MUMBAI : The television industry still has problems with excessive overtime, unreasonable expectations, hygienic and safety standards, payment delays, and set toxicity. The actress of the Dangal TV series Shubh Shagun, Krishna Mukherjee, recently brought attention to the issues when she accused Kundan Singh, the show's producer, of not paying her debts and of locking her in her makeup room when she objected.

Earlier too, there were reports of Sailesh Lodha and Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal revealing last year that when the Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producers failed to pay their debts, the performers resorted to extreme means.

Raj, who is currently a part of Maati Se Bandhi Dor shared, “I have been working for more than a decade now and there are a lot of friends and acquaintances who tell me that they have their payments stuck but frankly, I have never faced this. I feel fortunate about it. Though I am not denying their claims, in my opinion, such a thing is not possible because when the show goes off-air, the production house has to submit an NOC certificate to the channel stating that all the payments have been cleared and only then does the channel disburse the payment.

From directors to the crew and the production unit, each and every person has to give their nod that payment has been cleared and hence I think there are very less chances of actors not getting their dues on time. A delay might be possible but not being cleared at all is something I don’t think is possible. Now this is completely my opinion, but everyone has their own personal experience.”
