Reshav Bhardwaj on being part of Aukaat Se Zyada: I’ve been receiving unexpected feedback

MUMBAI: Actor Reshav Bhardwaj is on cloud 9 as the audience is loving his work in Yash Patnaik and Mamta Patnaik’s Aukaat Se Jyada that is streaming on the YouTube channel Freshh Mint. The actor, who plays the role of Adarsh in the show, says that he ever expected this outcome.

“I’ve been receiving unexpected feedback. People are really loving the show, and I’m glad they’re noticing the small gestures and nuances I’ve added to my character. It feels amazing to know that even the tiniest details I’ve worked on are being appreciated, and it makes me feel like I’ve truly justified the role,” he says.

He adds, “I’ve received so many messages asking about the release of the next episode! Some of the texts have even come from outside India, which is overwhelming. It’s a great feeling to see the reach of the show.”

Ask him how it feels to be part of a series that explores themes of ambition and societal expectations, and he says, “I’m extremely thankful to my producers for having faith in me. I genuinely believe this script was meant for me. I’ve always manifested roles that challenge me and take my craft to another level, and Aukaat Se Zyaada gave me that opportunity. Aadarsh is a character with so much depth, and it’s been a rewarding experience playing him.”

The actor says that he was always very happy to be on board. “I was really excited when I was approached because I knew it would be a challenge. I’m very different from Aadarsh, so portraying him required a lot of effort. I even stayed in character during the shoot, and it affected me deeply—I went into a kind of depression for a few weeks, both during and after the shoot. But I welcomed it because it was necessary to understand the pain Aadarsh and people like him face. Being part of this story has changed my thought process in a lot of ways,” he says.

The actor says that the show will help teach the audience a lot. “This show isn’t about spoon-feeding the audience. It definitely entertains, but it also leaves you with important questions. It makes you reflect on your day-to-day actions—if you hate someone, why? If you love someone, why? If you feel stuck in a bad circle of friends, why? Are you really living your own life, or are you being driven by someone else’s thoughts?” he says, adding, “Positive energy on the set is key to the success of the show. The cast and crew were all amazing, and everyone had such a great sense of humour. It felt less like we were on set and more like we were back in college. Every day was nostalgic, and the fun and energy we shared behind the scenes translated beautifully on screen.”
