MUMBAI: Shringarika fame Sherleen Dutt, who has been a part of KINK, Honey Trap Squad, and the web series Koi Jaye Toh Le Aaye, shared her experience from a recent visit to the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. The actress was highly impressed by the management of the mega event. She said, “The experience at Mahakumbh in Prayagraj has been nothing short of divine and transformative. Being surrounded by such an enormous crowd, yet feeling a sense of peace and unity, is something that words cannot fully explain. The energy of the place, the sound of prayers, the chants, and the sight of people coming together for a spiritual purpose create a serene and overwhelming atmosphere. It felt like being part of something truly sacred and timeless.”
Those close to Sherleen are aware of her deep connection to spirituality. She has already completed visits to all 12 Jyotirlingas in 2024. She added, “I am a spiritual person, and I completed visiting the 12 Jyotirlingas in 2024. I often visit holy places as they give me immense peace and help me stay connected to my spiritual side. But Mahakumbh is an experience like no other. It’s not just a visit; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime spiritual journey that leaves an everlasting impression on your soul. Being there felt like being part of something truly extraordinary and divine. Missing Mahakumbh is unimaginable, especially since this specific event happens only once every 144 years. I had been planning this trip for a long time, almost a year in advance, to ensure that my family and I could participate in this grand spiritual gathering.”
Sherleen attended Mahakumbh with her entire family and feels that being there with her loved ones made it even more special, as they could share the energy and positivity of the event together.
When asked about the reasons for her spiritual trip, she said, “The thought behind this trip was to deepen my spiritual connection and immerse myself in the divine energy of Mahakumbh. It wasn’t just about taking a dip in the holy Sangam; it was about cleansing the mind and soul and aligning with something greater than ourselves. I believe experiences like these bring clarity and peace and allow us to reconnect with our inner selves. For me, concerts and festivals can wait, but something as rare and divine as Mahakumbh comes only once in a lifetime—or rather once every 144 years. How could I miss it? The energy at Mahakumbh is indescribable. Despite the massive crowds, there’s a sense of harmony and tranquility. It felt like everyone was there with the same purpose—to connect with the divine and seek blessings. The chants, the rituals, and the devotion of millions of people coming together created a magnetic energy that left me feeling both humbled and uplifted. It’s a reminder that spirituality is not confined to any one person; it’s a collective experience that unites us all.”
Sherleen was very impressed with the overall management of the Mahakumbh. She remarked, “I must say that Yogi Adityanath ji and his government have done a phenomenal job in ensuring that the Mahakumbh is organized smoothly and efficiently. The scale of this event is massive, with millions of people gathering every day, yet everything has been handled so well—be it crowd management, cleanliness, or safety measures. The arrangements at the ghats, the transportation system, medical facilities, and the overall infrastructure have been top-notch. It’s evident that the government has put a lot of effort into making this a seamless experience for all the devotees. Yogi ji’s dedication to preserving and promoting our cultural and spiritual heritage is truly commendable.”
Finally, Sherleen conveyed a message to those planning to visit the holy event: “If you’re planning to visit Mahakumbh with your family, I’d suggest avoiding the Shahi Snan days. While they are a grand and significant part of the event, they are also the most crowded. Families with kids or elderly members may find it challenging to manage during those days. That said, the energy and devotion during the Shahi Snan are unparalleled, so if you’re prepared for the crowds, it’s an experience like no other. For those who haven’t visited yet, I’d like to say—you still have time! The Mahakumbh will continue until the 26th of February. Don’t miss this chance to immerse yourself in the spiritual energy of Prayagraj and take a holy dip in the Sangam. It’s an experience that will stay with you forever.”

On how the event could be improved, Sherleen suggested, “While the arrangements were excellent, there is always room for improvement. Perhaps more temporary shelters could be set up for families traveling from far-off places, and the number of medical camps could be increased. It would also help to have additional signboards and multilingual guides to assist international visitors and those unfamiliar with the area. But overall, it was an incredible effort by the authorities.”
