MUMBAI: The wait is over—Superboys of Malegaon has finally arrived in cinemas, bringing to life the incredible true story of Nasir Sheikh and his friends. Directed by Reema Kagti, this film celebrates the relentless passion of dreamers from Malegaon who turned their love for cinema into something extraordinary. But this story wasn’t just born on the sets—it began 15 years ago, in 2009, at the Osian’s Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema in Delhi.
That year, fate intertwined the lives of Nasir Sheikh, his friends, and filmmakers Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar. A chance meeting at the festival left a lasting impact, planting the seed of a story that would one day take flight on the silver screen. Inspired by Nasir’s unwavering spirit, what started as an unforgettable encounter slowly took shape, proving that some stories are destined to be told.
Reflecting on this journey, Zoya Akhtar shared a heartfelt post:

A collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios, Excel Entertainment, and Tiger Baby, Superboys of Malegaon is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti. Written by Varun Grover, the film features a stellar ensemble cast, including Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Shashank Arora.
