MUMBAI: Actor Hitanshu Jinsi, who plays Dhruv in Rahul Kumar Tewary & Rolling Tales Production’s Ram Bhavan, recently shared his thoughts on Holi and how he views the festival beyond just colors.
“I don’t have just one favorite color—it all depends on what we’re talking about. A car, an ice cream, a suit, or a room wall—each has its own perfect shade. It’s the same with life—different moods, different colors,” he reflects, emphasizing how his approach to colors extends beyond the festival.
Unlike many, Hitanshu doesn’t actively participate in Holi celebrations but enjoys the festive spirit. “I don’t really enjoy playing Holi. What I truly love is the festive vibe—the joy of having loved ones around, people visiting your home, and that sense of togetherness. That’s where the real happiness is for me,” he shares.
Reminiscing about his childhood, Hitanshu recalls, “As a kid, I used to love throwing water balloons at my cousins—it was all part of the fun. But I’ve grown up now, and I don’t find the same excitement in it anymore.” His fondest Holi memories are deeply tied to his hometown, where celebrations were grand and full of warmth. “Buying new pichkaris was the highlight for me—they were always designed so well every year, and that used to excite me the most.”
On pre-Holi skincare and hair care, Hitanshu doesn’t have a set routine since he avoids playing with colors. However, he acknowledges, “For those who do, oiling your hair and applying body lotion and primer on the skin beforehand definitely helps.”
For him, Holi is more about food and family than colors. “Chole puri, sweets, and homemade saag—especially when it’s made by my mom. That’s what makes the day special for me.”
Hitanshu also takes a practical approach to dressing for the festival. “Since I don’t celebrate Holi in the traditional way, there’s no rule for what I wear. Comfort comes first.”
Speaking about his character Dhruv in Ram Bhavan, he highlights how an actor’s role is shaped by the writers. “Honestly, an actor doesn’t decide what a character likes or dislikes—that’s the writer’s vision. It all depends on how they shape the character’s personality. My job as an actor is to bring that vision to life.”
With his grounded outlook on Holi and acting, Hitanshu Jinsi brings depth to both his personal life and his performance in Ram Bhavan. While he may not be splashing colors around, he certainly adds his own vibrant touch to the screen.
