MUMBAI: After a lot of appreciation for Kesari, the makers came back with Kesari Chapter 2. The announcement of this new chapter garnered a lot of excitement.
Since a while now, audiences have been loving Akshay Kumar’s performances a little more, be it in Sarfira, Khel Khel Mein or Sky Force. The actor gave an amazing performance in the 2019 movie Kesari where he was paired opposite Parineeti Chopra.
The movie was based on the battle of Saragarhi which took place in 1897. The battle was an unforgettable one between 21 Sikh soldiers of the 36th Sikh Regiment of the British India Army and 10,000 Afridi and Orakzai Pashtun tribesmen.
The makers are here with the second chapter and the cast includes Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday. While Kesari was directed by Anurag Singh, this time, Kesari Chapter 2 is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi. The movie will be produced by Dharma Production, Leo Media Collective & Cape of Good Films. This time, the movie is based on the story of the unfortunate Jallianwala Bagh massacre which took place in April, 1919. The movie has hit the theatres and is receiving some really great responses from the audience.
In an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar, Karan Singh Tyagi was questioned about about the risk factor involved in casting Ananya Panday for such a strong role as we all know how in the past she has been a target for trollers.
Karan Singh Tyagi denied the decision being risky and said, “Taking Ananya Panday was not a risk at all because she is a beautiful performer. I was lucky to see some rushes of Gehraiyaan before I cast her for this movie. Gehraiyaan was so good, I got to see a hidden side to her aur mujhe Dilreet Gill character ke liye 2 cheeze bohot important thi. Ek vulnerability, ek character mein jo vulnerability hoti hai aur doosra tha saathi saath strength aur Ananya mein woh dono hi characteristics in abundance hai,”
He added, “Uss ladki ne itni mehnat kari hai. She went through dialect classes with Amitosh Grewal, unke dialect coach hai, for over a year to get the Punjabi diction right. She has visited the Bombay High Court and observed a female lawyer argue. She has read books on Jallianwala Baug and I think what you are seeing on screen is a result of her hard work. I, in all humility and respect, disagree that casting Ananya Panday was a risk because I saw the hard work, I saw the effort and I saw the dedication.”
