“TV Teaches You Discipline and Emotional Honesty”: Srushti Mishra on Playing Ragini in Ram Bhavan

Ram Bhavan

MUMBAI: Srushti Mishra, who plays Ragini Vajpayee in Rahul Kumar Tewary & Rolling Tales Production’s Ram Bhavan, believes that television continues to be one of the most emotionally demanding yet rewarding mediums for actors. Reflecting on her journey so far, the actress shares insights into the discipline, emotional agility, and personal growth that TV acting requires.

“Daily soaps main, we don’t get many retakes or long rehearsals,” says Srushti. “You have to feel everything on the spot and deliver truthfully. That emotional switch is the biggest strength a TV actor must have.” She adds that despite being naturally reserved, working in television has helped her tap into a strength she didn’t know she had.

Ram Bhavan marks Srushti’s debut in television. Initially overwhelmed by the set, she now calls it her “second home.” “Main jada kuch nahi rakhti, par ek music speaker hai mere makeup room mein,” she smiles. “I listen to item songs to energize myself, and when I need to feel emotional, I switch to sad music. It sets the right vibe for the scenes.”

Talking about the long hours and bonds formed on set, Srushti says, “We spend so much time together, naturally friendships form. You see everyone at their best and worst.” She describes her co-stars as a support system, especially during her early days when she was still opening up. “Whether it’s friendship or love, these connections are built on real moments and mutual respect.”

In an era where OTT and film releases face uncertainty, Srushti sees TV as a stable and impactful medium. “TV gives you financial stability and a loyal audience. Characters like Ragini become part of people’s daily routines.” She adds, “As a newcomer, being part of a family-centric show like Ram Bhavan is a huge learning experience. TV teaches you to stay grounded and emotionally honest.”
